Murray State men’s golf played the SIUE Dolenc Invitational just across the Mississippi River from downtown St. Louis

Murray State's Jay Nimmo played an impressive final 36 holes to jump from 47^th place after the first round, to a final place of 15^th at the SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational Gateway

Nimmo carded a 4-over-par 75 in the first 18 holes Monday morning, but rebounded with a 67 and 68, to shoot 7-under-par in the final two rounds. His 210 total is a Murray State record for the Racers in their nine-yesr history at Gateway National. MSU's previous best 54-hole mark came from Jared Gosser in 2015 with a 214. Nimmo's 67 in the second round bested Gabe Wheeler's 68 in 2018.

Nimmo's 36 hole run of 135 was the best for MSU since the 137 Trey Lewis carded (68-69) in the final two rounds of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship last April in Moline, Illinois. Nimmo also had a 36-hole total of 134 last September at Jackson, Tenn.

Next up for the Racers is an appearance at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate (Oct. 2-3) at RidgePointe Country Club in Jonesboro, hosted by Arkansas State.
