Amundson Announces 2024 Softball Schedule

The Velvet Milkman Classic returns for its second season.
Murray State softball head coach Kara Amundson has announced the 2024 schedule featuring five non-conference tournaments.

The Racers host one tournament, the second annual Velvet Milkman Classic, where they host IUPUI, Western Illinois and Toledo. On the road, Murray State will compete in the Red & Black Showcase in Georgia, the Chattanooga Challenge, The Purple & Gold Challenge at Lipscomb and the North Alabama Tournament.

Their second Missouri Valley Conference campaign will begin when they host UIC starting on March 15. Conference play will feature nine series, with matchups against UIC, Belmont, Illinois State, Missouri State, Indiana State, Drake, Evansville, Valparaiso and Southern Illinois.

Murray State will host the UIC, Indiana State, Drake and Southern Illinois series at home.

Illinois State will host the MVC Championships (May 8-11). All 12 teams will compete for a spot in the NCAA Tournament, with the first through fourth seeds receving a first-round bye.

The Racers finished fourth in their inaugural MVC regular season last year.
