Murray State to Face UT Martin in Midweek Showdown

The Murray State Racers (15-18, 7-6 MVC) and UT Martin Skyhawks (22-16, 10-4 OVC) are set to face off in a midweek game in Martin, Tennessee.
Following a series win over UIC, the Racers are in sixth in the Missouri Valley Conference. Meanwhile, the Skyhawks are second in the Ohio Valley Conference after splitting a doubleheader at Eastern Illinois.
Kenley Minor led the Racers at the plate against the Flames, putting up 13 RBI on the weekend with three home runs and a .583 batting average. Bre Haislip (7-5) put together an equally dominant weekend in the circle, getting the win in the opening and closing games of the series and striking out eight batters on the weekend while allowing just one earned run.
Sophomore Kynadee Warner leads the team with 40 hits and a .360 batting average, while Minor now leads the team with five home runs and 24 RBI. Freshman Allie Waldron features a .358 batting average, 34 hits, and 21 RBI while leading the team with eight doubles. In addition to leading the team with 18 walks, Katy Huels is fourth in the MVC with 12 stolen bases, while Warner is one spot behind with 11.
The Murray State pitching staff has a combined 4.11 ERA, while Bre Haislip leads the way with a 2.83 ERA across 89 innings, fifth-best in the MVC. Emily Siurek (0-2) features a 3.90 ERA across 23 1/3 innings, and Karlye Graber (5-5) has a 3.98 ERA across 70 1/3 innings of work.
Scouting the Skyhawks
Murray State holds a 21-18 lead in the all-time series between the former OVC foes. The Racers came out on top in the most recent game, 5-1 on March 26, 2025. Chelsea Farmer carries a 68-69 record through her third season at the helm of the Skyhawks. UT Martin is second in the Ohio Valley Conference, having most recently split a doubleheader at Eastern Illinois. The Skyhawks won the opening game 5-4 in nine innings, while Eastern Illinois claimed a 9-1 win in five innings in the second. Carly Ward leads the team and is second in the OVC with a .415 batting average while leading the league with 44 hits. Avary Makarewicz leads the team and the conference with eight home runs and 36 RBI. The Skyhawk pitching staff features a 4.34 ERA, with Sami Scholtz (6-4) leading the team with a 2.87 ERA and 50 strikeouts. Natalie Kreuziger (5-4) features a 3.60 ERA across 48 2/3 innings pitched with 42 strikeouts, while Ashtyn Green (7-3) has a 4.14 ERA with 38 strikeouts through 71 innings.
