Ellington Named MVC Newcomer of the Week

In a splendid week against UIC and Indiana State, the MSU junior scored at a 23 points per game pace
Nick Ellington was named Newcomer of the Week for a second time by Missouri Valley Conference, after an amazing week in which he shot 77 percent from the field in games against UIC and Indiana State.
Ellington's week was among the best in The Valley as the St. Louis native scored 29 points at UIC last Wednesday and 17 points against Indiana State on Sunday.
Ellington shot 77 percent (21-of-27) from the field and had a 23.0 points per game average for the pair of games. In addition, he grabbed 17 rebounds for an 8.5 per game average and also had four assists and six blocked shots.
On Sunday, Ellington notched his third double-double of the season, after he started the season with back-to-back efforts against Midway (Nov. 6) and Tennessee Tech (Nov. 10).
He was named MVC Newcomer of the Week for the first time on Nov. 13, when he became the first Racer to get a double-double in his MSU debut since Justice Hill in 2022. Against Tennessee Tech, Ellington scored his second-straight double-double to become the first Racer to debut with back-to-back double-doubles since Antoine Whelchel in 2000.
Ellington and the Racers travel to Peoria Wednesday for a 6 p.m. clash with the Bradley Braves.
