Racers Sweep Sycamores in Home Opener

Murray State defeated Indiana State in straight sets.
Murray State Volleyball (7-5, 2-1 MVC) swept Indiana State (3-12, 0-3) in the Racers' 2024 season opener.
The Navy & Gold came out strong in the first set, winning 25-16 on the back of a 10-1 run early in the set. The Sycamores fought back in the second, however, the Racers held on to win 25-22. Both teams traded blows in the third set, but the Racers prevailed, winning 25-20. Federica Nuccio provided the exclamation point for the Navy & Gold, delivering the final point with a service ace.
Ella Vogel led the way for the Racers, tallying 18 kills, four service aces, and eight digs. Dahlia Miller anchored the defense with 15 digs and Darci Metzger added two blocks. Haidi Miliou delivered an efficient day, with 9 kills with a .615 attacking percentage. Bailey DeMier continued to be a facilitator for the offense with 29 assists and added three kills.
"I know our team enjoyed playing in front of our fans," said head coach David Schwepker. "The fans were so awesome and loud and we really thank them for supporting us!"
The Racers are back in action tomorrow at Racer Arena against Evansville (2-13, 1-2 MVC) at 6 p.m. CT.
