The Racers all-time leading scorer was one of 20 named to the watch list by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame
Murray State women's basketball player Katelyn Young has picked up national recognition from the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, being named to the Lisa Leslie Center of the Year Watch List, as announced on Friday afternoon.
After becoming MSU's all-time leading scorer a season ago, Young has garnered preseason honors going into the 2024-25 season being named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year watch list, Missouri Valley Conference preseason first-team, and now being named one of 20 players nationally to the Leslie Award watch list.
The graduate student has averaged 18.9 points and 8.3 rebounds throughout her illustrious career and became just the second Murray State student-athlete to reach 2000 points and 1000 rebounds in a career, joining MSU men's basketball legend Popeye Jones.
Young and the Racers get the 2024-25 season started on November 7 when they host SIUE at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky.Â
