
Racers to Face Braves, Redbirds for Final Home Matches

ÂThe Murray State Racers (14-10, 9-6 MVC) will host the Bradley Braves (13-14, 8-7 MVC) and the Illinois State Redbirds (13-15, 8-7 MVC) for their final two home matches of the 2024 season.Â
ÂThe Racers are currently in position for a first-round tournament bye as they sit fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference with the Braves and Redbirds right behind in fifth and sixth. Â
ÂThe Racers are one of the most efficient hitting teams in the conference with their .214 clip sitting fifth in the MVC. They are also one of the top teams in the conference and the nation in digs as their 16.9 per set are fourth in the MVC and 20th in the nation. They are led by graduate libero Dahlia Miller who currently sits third in the MVC and fourth in the nation with 5.45 digs per set. Â
ÂBailey DeMier has been another standout upperclassman for the Racers as she is nearing the the school record of 4,580 for career assists, with her total currently sitting at 4,468. The Bloomington, Ind. native is tied for the highest per-set average in the MVC at 9.92. Â
ÂJunior Ella Vogel currently leads the Racers in kills with 373 kills on the season, and her average of 3.89 per set is good for third in the MVC. Haidi Miliou has been the most efficient attacker for the Racers this season, totaling 185 kills while hitting at a .266 clip. Vogel also leads the team with 58 blocks on the year while Miliou has 52. Â
ÂThe Braves' leading attacker is junior outside hitter Iva Popvic who totals 373 kills on the year with an average of 3.52 per set, she also leads the team with 37 aces. The Braves Currently lead the MVC in service aces with 180 on the season and an average of 1.7 per set. Freshman setter Maria Drapp leads the team with 556 assists on the year and adds 36 aces of her own. They are led defensively by Irene Mostardini with 491 digs and Beste Ayhan with 87 blocks on the year. Â
ÂThe Redbirds are led offensively by Aida Shadewald with 318 kills on the year, her 3.53 per set is the sixth highest in the conference. Mekaila Aupiu is tied with DeMier at the top of the MVC in assists per set with an average of 9.92 and leads the conference with 1151 on the season. Defensively they are led by Samantha Bunch with 449 digs on the season and Maggie McCrary with 51 blocks.
ÂFollowing the pair of home matches, the Racers will travel to Nashville, Tenn. on Tuesday, November 19 for their final regular season match of the season against Belmont at 1 p.m. CT.Â
