
Racers Unable to Beat Bulldogs on Senior Night

Drake defeated Murray State 3-1 on senior night at Racer Arena.
The Murray State Racers (12-10, 7-6 MVC) fell to the Drake Bulldogs (16-8, 12-1 MVC) 3-1 at Racer Arena on Saturday. Â
ÂThe loss drops Murray State to fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference while Drake remains in second. Â
ÂThe Racer started out strong, winning a tight first set 27-25 as they put up 19 kills and hit .286. The Bulldogs responded to win a marathon of a second set 31-29 in a set that saw both teams record over 20 kills and hit over .300. The Bulldogs took over in the third, going on a long run to begin the set and ultimately winning 25-17. The Racers fought back in the fourth but were unable out last the Bulldogs who picked up a decisive 25-19 win.
ÂThe Racers were outblocked 13-7 and Drake won the assists battle 70-58. Â
ÂFour different Racers recorded double-digit kills with Lilly Burnett, Haidi Miliou, and Ella Vogel all leading the way with 14. Federica Nuccio added 12.Â
ÂBailey DeMier continues to inch toward the Murray State all-time assists mark of 4,580, as her 50 assists tonight bring her total up to 4,385. Â
ÂDahlia Miller led the Racers with 26 digs while DeMier and Vogel added 15 and Nuccio had 14. Â
ÂThe Bulldogs were led in kills by Megan Witte who totaled 23 and added 10 digs. Addison Beagle led the team with 38 assists and Jada Wills led the way with 22 digs. Â
ÂThe Racers are on the road next weekend for another pair of MVC matchups. They will face the Aces of Evansville in Evansville, Ind. at 6 p.m. CT on Friday, November 8, and the Indiana State Sycamores at 4 p.m. CT on Saturday, November 9 in Terre Haute. Â
