Racers Defeat Aces in Four

Murray State defeated Evansville 3-1 in a road MVC match.
The Murray State Racers (13-10, 8-6 MVC) defeated the Evansville Purple Aces (6-21, 5-10 MVC) 3-1 in Evansville, Indiana. Â
ÂWith the win, the Racers remain in fourth place in the Missouri Valley Conference while Evansville sits in ninth.Â
ÂThe Aces took the momentum early, winning the first set 25-21 and never giving up the lead. The Racers rallied in the second, taking a 25-18 win while recording 14 kills on a .500 attacking percentage. They kept their foot on the gas in the third, going on a 9-1 run to build their lead before winning 25-16. The fourth set was a back-and-forth affair that saw both teams record their best attacking percentage of the night with the Racers attacking at a .514 clip and the Aces .300. Murray State held off a late rally by the Aces to take a decisive 25-22 win.Â
ÂThe Navy & Gold finished with a season-high .363 attacking percentage, 59 kills, and eight blocks. Â
ÂFour different Racers finished with double-digit kills as Ella Vogel led the team with 13 and her 16 digs and six blocks led the team as well. Federica Nuccio had 11 while Lily Burnett and Haidi Miliou both put up 10.   Â
ÂBailey Demeir moves closer to the Racers' all-time assist record of 4,580 as her 44 assists tonight move her career total to 4429. Â
ÂAngelica Gonzalez Maltes led the Purple Aces with 20 kills, Ainoah Cruz had 22 digs, and Kora Ruff had 54 assists.Â
ÂThe Racers are back in action at 4 p.m. CT on Saturday, November 9 in Terre Haute, Indiana against the Indiana State Sycamores. Â
