Women’s tennis handed their first loss of the season at Lipscomb
Murray State fell to Lipscomb on Saturday in Nashville, TN.
Lipscomb started strong in doubles play. The Bisons clinched the first point of the match in the second doubles flight with Sasha Dobranos/Rut Galindo defeating MSU's Sarah Bureau/Annika Pschorr 6-4.
In singles, freshman Valeria Chaikovskaia earned her third straight set victory against LU's Sasha Dobranos, an All Atlantic Sun First Team Selection in the 2022-2023 season. Sarah Bureau also earned her third win of the season, leading the team in singles with a 13-3 overall record in the 2023-2024 season.
The Bisons clinched the match win with singles player Anja Trbeznik defeating MSU's Annika Pschorr in two 6-4 sets.
"Tough loss today but I think this will make us better down the road if we learn from it," Coach Jorge Caetano said. "I feel like we played very reactively today instead of being proactive and taking control of the points which is our brand of tennis. We started the match well in both doubles and singles and fought very hard but unfortunately it wasn't enough. Props to Lipscomb for having the right answers for our shots today and not allowing us to turn the match in our favor."
