Racers Take MVC-Opener Series Over Flames

Murray State softball wins their conference opener series against UIC.

Murray State softball wins 6-0 to clinch the series over UIC, Sunday.

The Racers won the series 2-1 and now have a 14-14 record through the season.

How it went
The Racers did not hold anything back as leading batter Lily Fischer starts their offense early with a home run to left field. The Racers scored two more runs with RBIs by Kayleigh White and Parker Holcombe.

White and Holcombe scored at the final stretch of the inning from an error to make it a five-run first inning for the Racers.

MSU scored another run in the third inning through Adison Hicks's base running. Hicks reached on an error before stealing the second and third bases. She scored on a pass ball.

Jenna Veber earned her 10th win of the season. She pitched five shutout innings while only allowing five hits through 20 batters faced.

Bre Haislip pitched the final two innings only allowing three hits through eight batters faced.

Murray State will visit a familiar foe in Nashville as they face Belmont, Tuesday.
