Giving the Racers instant offense this season, Brian Moore, Jr. gets the honor in voting by the MVC’s media panel
Murray State's Brian Moore, Jr. was named to the Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball All-Bench Team Tuesday as announced by the league office in St. Louis, Mo.
Â
The 2024 MVC All-Bench Team was voted on by a media panel from all across The Valley footprint and the panel also selected the MVC Most-Improved Team prior to the start of Thursday's State Farm Arch Madness.
Â
Moore came to Murray State two seasons ago from Northeast Oklahoma A&M and has proven to be a tough task for opponents trying to slow him down.
Â
In 25 games this season, Moore is hitting .417 from the field and .789 from the free throw line to log a per game scoring average of 9.5 points and he has dished out 40 assists. He has five games of scoring 10 or more points off the bench, including 21 against UIC (Jan. 2). It marked the second-straight season he had accomplished the feat against UIC. Moore's two big bench games are part of a list that has just 15 instances for a MSU player since 2016. Against Evansville (Jan. 6), Moore hit 6-of-8 from the field for 15 points.
Â
Out of Harlem, N.Y., Moore enters the week only seven points from 500 in his MSU career, after he has appeared in 56 games with a scoring average 0f 8.8 points per game.
Â
The Racers are eyeing a first-round game against the Missouri State Bears on Thursday at 12 p.m. at Enterprise Center at the MVC Tournament.
