The Murray State men’s basketball program welcomes Brendan Mullins to Steve Prohm’s coaching staff
Murray State men's basketball head coach Steve Prohm announced the addition of Brendan Mullins as assistant coach.
"We are excited to add Brendan to the Murray State program," Prohm said. "He brings a great amount of experience in all areas on and off the floor. I like the fact that he has a familiarity with the Missouri Valley Conference and he's had success in the league as well. Brendan is a great fit for our community and our staff and we welcome him to the Racer Family."
"I am beyond excited for the opportunity to work for Coach Prohm," Mullins said. "His success in winning championships and developing NBA players is unmatched in the Valley. My wife, Alex, and my daughter, Madelyn, and I are looking forward to being a part of the Murray community. Murray State has been one of the winningest programs with one of the best fans bases in the country. I am excited to get to work and help bring Murray State more success."
Mullins has previously coached at three schools in the MVC and arrives at Murray State after coaching at Southern Illinois from 2019-24 as he worked with his brother, Bryan, who was head coach. Brendan Mullins also coached at Illinois State from 2017-19 and UIC from 2015-17, when the Flames played in the Horizon League.
Mullins also coached at Wright State (2010-15), Green Bay (2009-10) and Mercyhurst (2007-09).
In the MVC, Mullins is known as an outstanding recruiter, which has included attracting All-MVC players such as DJ Horne, Lance Jones and Xavier Johnson to SIU and Antonio Reeves to Illinois State. At UIC, Mullins was part of the recruitment of 2016 Horizon League Freshman of the Year, Dikembe Dixson. At Wright State, Mullins was on staff for two 20-win teams that each played in a postseason tournament.
