Bryan Sherrer Joins Men’s Basketball Staff

The former Murray State staffer joins Head Coach Steve Prohm for a second time after his first stint from 2011-14
Murray State men's basketball coach Steve Prohm announced the addition of Bryan Sherrer to his coaching staff for the 2024-25 season, as Assistant to the Head Coach.
Sherrer joins the Racers after coaching at Arkansas-Pine Bluff the last three seasons, where he served as Associate Head Coach.
He started his career with the Racers in Coach Prohm's first season in 2011-12.
"I am very happy to be back with the Racers and thankful Coach Prohm gave me this opportunity," Sherrer said. "The fan support at Murray State is one of the best in the nation and Murray State has always held a special place in my heart. I am looking forward to working with our current student-athletes and building a program that can win championships in the Missouri Valley Conference."
"I am thrilled to have Bryan rejoin our program and the Racer Family," Prohm said. "Bryan is very familiar with Murray State Basketball and what it takes to be successful here. Having been with me previously, Bryan has a good understanding of what I value and what is important to me. Bryan will have a positive impact on our players going into next season and beyond."
Sherrer returns to Murray State where he served as a graduate assistant to Prohm in his first three seasons from 2011-14.
Sherrer was part of the 2011-12 team that became the darling of college basketball as the final undefeated team in the nation at 23-0 and a team that broke into the top-10 nationally. His time at Murray State included working with MSU Hall of Famers and NBA Draft selections, Isaiah Canaan in his senior season and the freshman season of Cameron Payne. The Racers were 75-23 in Sherrer's three seasons on the bench.
He coached at Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff, Missouri under Hall of Fame coach Gene Bess and his son, Brian Bess from 2014-21. Sherrer helped recruit 37 players that went on to play at four-year programs, 19 that played at the NCAA Division-I level and five NJCAA All-America players.
