Racers Fall to Braves in Reverse Sweep

Murray State could not hold off the comeback from Bradley, falling 3-2.
Murray State Volleyball (6-5, 1-1 MVC) fell to the Bradley Braves (7-7, 1-1 MVC) 3-2 in a reverse sweep on Saturday.
The Racers were in control early, winning the first set 25-20 and hanging on to win the second 30-28. Bradley came back to win the third set 26-24, finishing with a 9-3 scoring run. They then tied the match 2-2 with a 25-22 win in the fourth set before holding the Racers off in the final set 16-14.
Ella Vogel led the Racers with 19 kills, Lily Burnett once again set a career-high with 16, and Federica Nuccio had 11 kills and 20 digs. Bailey DeMier tallied 45 assists and Daliah Miller anchored the defense with 34 digs.
Iva Popovic led the charge for Bradley, totaling 23 kills and 22 digs. Corrie Brown led all players in assists with 57 and Irene Mostradine and Ayhan Beste were standouts on defense with 28 digs and five blocks respectively.
With the win, Bradley becomes the first team of the 2024 season to notch two Missouri Valley Conference wins while the Racers move to 1-1 in the first weekend of conference play.
The Racers return home to historic Racer Arena for the first time this season on Friday, October 4 at 6 p.m. CT for a matchup with Indiana State (3-10, 0-1 MVC) and will host Evansville (2-11, 1-0 MVC) the following Saturday at 6 p.m. CT.
