The Racers are slated for a Thursday night match against the Kentucky Wildcats on September 5 at 6:30 p.m. CT at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex in Lexington, Kentucky. This is the fifth all-time matchup between the two programs, with Kentucky leading the series with a 4-0 record.
The last time Murray State faced the Wildcats took place in 2023 at the Racers' home pitch at Cutchin Field. Kentucky jumped to a 1-0 lead after a scoreless first half before Mary Hardy equalized just two minutes later. The Wildcats netted the game-winner in the 76th minute to extend their winning streak over the Racers to four matches.
The Wildcats enter the match with a perfect 5-0 record, outscoring their opponents 12-2 thus far this season. Kentucky is led by head coach Troy Fabiano, who is in his third season at the helm of UK's women's soccer program and 27th season as a head coach. He has amassed a record of 21-13-8 since his arrival to Lexington, and holds a career record of 344-103-50.
Kentucky's squad is led by Makala Woods, who leads the team with three goals, six total points, and is tied for the most shots on goal with six. Thalia Morisi and Grace Phillpotts lead the team with two assists each, followed by five other players who have recorded an assist.
Murray State enters Thursday's match on a three-match unbeaten streak, with wins over Austin Peay and UT Martin in their last two matches. Sydney Etter, who was named the Missouri Valley Conference's Women's Soccer Player of the Week, leads the team with three goals and seven total points.
Three other Racers in Kate Stordy, Abbey MacDonald and Griselda Revolorio were also named Defender, Freshman, and Goalkeeper of the Week. Stordy earned her first two career assists on Sunday against the Skyhawks and has played full time in 15 of her last 17 career appearances. MacDonald also recorded her first two career assists against the Governors before earning her first career start against UT Martin.
Revolorio currently leads the MVC with 32 saves and sits in a tie for the 16th-most saves in NCAA Division I.
"Excited for another very tough challenge," head coach Matt Lodge said. "UK have started the season very strong and we are in great form, so I think it'll be a good game."
