Racers Defeat NC Central in Reverse Sweep

Murray State picked up their first win of the season at the Elon Phoenix Classic.
Murray State Volleyball (1-3) defeated the NC Central Eagles (0-3) 3-2 to pick up the first win of their season on Friday at the Elon Phoenix Classic.Â
ÂThe first two sets did not go the Racers' way, as they dropped the first 25-19 and the second 25-21. The Navy & Gold would not go quietly, as they stormed back to dominate the third set 25-14. They kept the momentum through the fourth winning 25-19 and finished the set on a service act by Bailey DeMier. The Racers kept their foot on the gas in the final stanza as they quickly jumped out to a 7-3 lead before securing the victory 15-11.  Â
ÂOn the game, Preseason All-MVC selection Darci Metzger led the way for the Racers, leading the team in points, kills, and digs with 22 points, 20 kills, 21 digs, and one solo block. Ella Vogel continued her strong start to the season with 18 total points, 15 kills, and six block assists. Haidi Milou also had a strong showing with 10.5 total points, eight kills, and five block assists. Â
ÂThe Racers were out-blocked 11-10 but had the superior sideout percentage of 61.7% to 55.2%. Â

The Racers will be back in action at 6 p.m. CT against the Elon Phoenix (1-3).
