Racers Sweep Phoenix to Win Second Consecutive Game

Murray State improved to 2-0 on the day with a dominant win.
Murray State Volleyball (2-3) picked up their second win of the day after defeating Elon 3-0 on Friday, September 6 at the Elon Phoenix Classic.
ÂAfter their reverse sweep win on Friday morning, the Racers refused to slow down in their second matchup of the day and defeated the Elon Phoenix 3-0. After a back-and-forth first set that ended in a 25-19 win, the Navy & Gold hung on to win a battle in the second set 28-26. Â
ÂThe Racers slammed the door in a dominant third set, winning 25-12 and going on a 5-0 run to end the match. That final run was capped off by a pair of service aces by sophomore outside hitter/defensive specialist Bailey Keusch. Â
ÂElla Vogel was once again the leader for the Racers, putting up 15 kills and recording an attack percentage of .407. Lilly Burnett record 10 total points with eight kills, and Darci Metzger finished with seven kills and six digs. Dahlia Miller led the team in digs with 14 and Baily DeMier finished with 27 assists.Â
Â"The team worked much harder as a team this evening," said head coach David Schwepker. "And win or lose, I know that is what is going to make us be more competitive and successful."Â
ÂThe Racers are back in action on Saturday, September 7 at 1 p.m. CT against the Spartans of UNC Greensboro. Â
