The Racers begin the fall golf campaign with an appearance at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational

The 2024-25 men's golf season gets going for the Murray State Racers in Barboursville, West Virginia at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational at Guyan Golf & Country Club.

Returning to the Racers' lineup are three proven performers for MSU head coach Jacob Miller, who is in his third season with the Racers. Seniors Jay Nimmo and Kamaren Cunningham and sophomore Lennon Albans combined for 30 round or par or better in 2023-24. Nimmo placed sixth last spring at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship. After a fabulous summer in which he won the Kentucky State Amateur and played in the US Amateur, redshirt-freshman Trey Wall is in the lineup as well as transfer Rocco Zakutney. Senior Trey Lewis and freshman Sam Guest play the Marshall event as solo competitors.

The tournament is named for Joe Feaganes, was Miller's coach when he played for the Thundering Herd as a freshman in 2011. When Feaganes retired, Miller (2011-15) played his final three seasons for current Marshall coach Matt Grobe. Feaganes and Coach Buddy Hewitt, the founder of the men's golf program at Murray State in 1961, were good friends.
