Turner Ties Wins Record as Racers Blow Past Valpo

Murray State women's basketball defeated Valparaiso 82-45 as Head Coach Rechelle Turner tied the program wins record
Murray State women's basketball defeated Valparaiso 82-45 on Friday night at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky. The victory marks Rechelle Turner's 120th at the helm for the Racers to tie her with Rob Cross for the most victories in program history.Â
Three different players picked up a double-double, highlighted by Katelyn Young's 19 points and 12 rebounds. Ava Learn grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds to go with 12 points and Haven Ford had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Halli Poock put together 10 points as Trinity White and Destiny Thomas both had eight points. As a team, the Racers grabbed 62 rebounds, one of the 10 highest totals in program history.
Murray State was able to limit Valpo to just 28 rebounds and forced 23 Beacon turnovers. The Racers held Valpo to just nine points in the fourth quarter as MSU scored 18 in the final frame to extend their lead to 37.
Murray State now sets its sights on UIC as the Racers host the Flames on Sunday.
