The Racers play Wednesday night in Carbondale against Southern Illinois

The Murray State Racers dropped a 74-61 defeat Saturday to the Bradley Braves at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky.

The Racers (10-9) and 4-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference., travel to Carbondale Wednesday to meet Southern Illinois and come back to The Bank Saturday)Jan. 25) to host Belmont.

The Racers put five in double-figure scoring including AJ Ferguson with 12, Kylen Milton and JaCobi Wood each with 11 and Nick Ellington and Alden Applewhite each with 10.

In the first half, the Racers hit five-straight shots to produce a 13-3 run for an 18-15 lead at 11:25. The Braves answered with a 15-2 run that spanned the final three minutes of the first half and the first four minutes of the second half to get their largest lead of the day at 50-39 with 14:25 remaining.

The Racers cut the lead to seven (65-58) with 5:25 left on a pair of Milton baskets and one driving layup by Terence Harcum, but never got any closer in falling to 5-3 at home this season.

JaCobi Wood's 11 points tonight moved him closer to joining the 1000-Point Club with the Racers.
He enters the week with 982 points in three seasons in Murray in 83 games.
Terence Harcum's shooting streak of making at least one 3-pointer in every game this season ended at 18 when he was 0-of-4 against the Braves.
Applewhite's run of six-straight games with a ended tonight.
The MSU record for consecutive games with a 3-pointer belongs to MSU Hall of Famer, Isaiah Canaan, who hit one in 40 straight games spanning the end of the 2011-12 season and the beginning of the 2012-13 season.
Tevin Brown has the second-longest run of threes at 28 games in a row during the 2021-22 season.
Through 19 games, the Racers still have not given up double-digit 3-point baskets to their opponents.
Bradley took advantage of MSU's 13 turnovers and turned them into 20 points, while the Racers forced the Braves into 12 turnover, MSU was able to produce 11 points in the game.
When the Racers meet SIU Wednesday night in Carbondale, they'll be looking to beat the Salukis for the first time as members of the MVC in five games.
