Rifle fires 4709 at UT Martin

Murray State returns at Ole Miss on October 25.
The Murray State Racers fired an aggregate of 4709 from Oct. 18–19 to defeat the UT Martin Skyhawks in Martin, Tennessee.
The Racers opened the weekend on Saturday, Oct. 18, by firing a 2342 in smallbore compared to a 2280 from the Skyhawks. Freshman Lea Soulé continued her early-season success, firing a 594 with 38 centers to claim the top spot on the day. Sophomore Carlotta Salafia took second in smallbore with a 587, Emma Lawrence took third with a 583, and Paola Paravati took fourth with a 578.
The Racers put up a 2367 in Sunday's air rifle portion of the match, topping a 2333 from the Skyhawks. Salafia added to her impressive total by firing a 598 with 87 centers. Mallory Johnson took second with a 593, and Lea Soulé placed third with a 590.
The Navy & Gold claimed eight of the top 10 spots in the individual rankings. Salafia took the top spot with an 1185 aggregate, while Soulé took second with a 1184. Emma Lawrence placed third after adding a 589 air rifle score to her 583 in smallbore. Paola Paravati fired a fourth-place 578 in smallbore and a fifth-place 589 in air rifle to claim fourth with a 1167 aggregate. Mallory Johnson rounded out the top five with an aggregate of 1163 and scores of 570 and 593 in smallbore and air rifle.
Freshman Abby Ballard finished sixth individually with a 1161 and 67 centers, while senior Grace Foley placed seventh with a 1161 of her own with 64 centers. Another freshman, Ainsley McFarland, rounded out the top 10 for the Racers, coming in ninth with scores of 571 in air rifle, 587 in smallbore and an aggregate of 1158.
The Racers are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 9 a.m. CT in Oxford, Mississippi, against the Ole Miss Rebels.
