Racers Preparing for Pair of Matches at Ole Miss

The Murray State Racers will face a pair of non-conference opponents this weekend in Oxford, Mississippi.Â
Last weekend, the Racers faced fellow Ohio Valley Conference members UT Martin in a two-day match in Martin, Tennessee. The Racers came out on top 4709-4613 and were bolstered by strong performances from Lea Soulé and Carlotta Salafia. Â
Salafia was the top individual performer and top shooter in air rifle, putting up a 598 to go with a 587 in smallbore for an aggregate of 1185. Soulé finished second individually and first in smallbore with a 594. The freshman also came in third in air rifle with a 590 for an aggregate of 1184. Â
Eight of the top 10 individual scorers were Racers, with Emma Lawrence, Paola Paravati, and Mallory Johnson rounding out the top five. Â
The Racers are tenth in the nation with an average aggregate of 4707.5. Meanwhile, Ole Miss is ranked third with an average of 4735, and Jacksonville State is 11th, averaging 4695. Â
Ole Miss has shot just one match this season, putting up a 2352 in smallbore and 2383 in air rifle at UTEP. Jacksonville State has also shot one match, scoring 2329 in smallbore and 2366 in air rifle at Morehead State.Â
Following their matches in Oxford, the Racers return home to host Jacksonville State at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range in Murray, Kentucky, on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 9 a.m. CT.Â
