Racers to Compete in Pair of Buckeye State Matches

Murray State travels to Columbus for two weekend matches.

The Murray State Racers travel to Columbus, Ohio for a pair of weekend matches against nonconference opponents.
In the opening match of the weekend, the Racers will compete against the host Buckeyes, as well as Akron and UTEP. The following morning, the Racers will take on UTEP and West Virginia.
The Navy & Gold are ranked 11th in the CRCA polls, and are tenth in the nation with an average aggregate of 4712.2. The Racers currently average 2339.8 in smallbore and 2372.4 in air rifle.
Carlotta Salafia leads the team with an average aggregate of 1185.2 and an air rifle average of 598.4, third best in the nation. Freshman Lea Soulé features a team-high smallbore average of 590.2.
In the Racers' most recent match, they put up a 4714 at home with a 2345 in smallbore, and a 2369 in air rifle. Sophomore Carlotta Salafia was the top shooter for the Racers, and the top performer in all three categories, putting up a 590 in smallbore, and 599 in air rifle for an aggregate of 1189. A pair of freshmen, Lea Soulé and Abby Ballard, also appeared in the top five, with Soulé taking fourth and Ballard taking fifth. Soulé finished with a 586 smallbore, 591 air rifle, and 1177 aggregate, while Ballard finished with 585 smallbore, 589 air rifle, and 1174 aggregate.

Following their matches at Ohio State, the Racers are back on the road, this time in the Bluegrass State at Kentucky. The Racers and Wildcats will face off at 9 a.m. CT on Saturday, Nov. 22 in Lexington, Kentucky.
