The rare neutral site game was played at the Curb Event Center

The Murray State Racers fell 74-67 Monday night to the Northern Iowa Panthers at the Curb Event Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Racers (13-14) fell to 7-9 in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Terence Harcum led the way for the Racers with five 3-point baskets and 19 points, while Nick Ellington was 8-of-12 from the field with 18 points and JaCobi Wood added 15 points.

From the outset, the Racers got early threes from Kylen Milton and AJ Ferguson for a 10-4 lead.

Ferguson and Wood hit back-to-back threes with five minutes in the first half and before the half ended, Wood scored eight-straight points, but MSU trailed at the halftime intermission 37-34.

KyeRon Lindsay scored to make it a tied game at 41-41 with 16:23 remaining and the Racers were never able to regain the lead.

The game was played as a neutral floor contest after a recent storm knocked out the power to MSU's home, the CFSB Center, in Murray. It was announced after tonight's game that MSU's Wednesday scheduled home game with the Southern Illinois Salukis will be played in Carbondale at Banterra Center.

Game Notes

For the fourth time this season in games against D-I opponents, the Racers hit 10 or more from the 3-point line.
MSU hit 11 threes against the Panthers but lost the game, even with an edge of 11-6 from long range.
MSU has wins in this scenario over Middle Tennessee and the first meeting with UNI and losses to Evansville on the road and this game against UNI.
One factor in this game was UNI outscoring the Racers by 12 points at the free throw line.
MSU only hit eight from the stripe in this game, after they came in leading the MVC in making more than 16 per game.
This season, MSU has only hit less than 10 from the free throw line four times vs D-I teams and they have lost all of them to: Nebraska, Belmont, Drake and now UNI.
Terence Harcum's five 3-pointers matched his season-high as he also hit five against Utah Valley.
Harcum's career-high is eight threes when he played at Appalachian State against Old Dominion in 2023.
