Racers Travel to Oxford for Ole Miss Classic

Murray State will face Nicholls, South Alabama, and Ole Miss.
Murray State softball will travel to Oxford, Miss. for a weekend tournament featuring the Racers, the Nicholls Colonels, the South Alabama Jaguars, and the Ole Miss Rebels.
The Racers will open the tournament on Friday with a 10:30 a.m. matchup against Nicholls and their second meeting of the season with South Alabama at 1 p.m. On Saturday, they will face the Jaguars for a third time at 10:30 a.m. before facing the host Rebels at 3:30 p.m. They will wrap up their tournament slate with a 10:00 a.m. matchup with Nicholls on Sunday. Â
Murray State (4-6, 0-0 MVC) is coming off of a 1-3 weekend at the Velvet Milkman Classic that saw them pick up a 9-0 win over Western Illinois. Bre Hailsip pitched all five innings, picking up the win and striking out two while only giving up one hit.Â
On the season, Haislip has a 2.07 ERA and leads the team with 21 strikeouts and is allowing an opponent batting average of just .214. Raylee Roby leads the team with a low ERA of 1.71 and has a record of 2-1. Â
Ava Ozment has been a consistent force at the plate in the early season. The junior leads the team with a .350 batting average and totals seven hits and three RBI on the season. Parker Holcombe leads the team with eight hits on the season and is batting .286.
Ailey Schyck has had a hot start to her junior season. Starting at third base, the Winter Park, Fla. native has already eclipsed her previous career total of three with four home runs on the season. She also leads the team with ten RBI and a .826 slugging percentage. Â
Freshman Kenley Minor has cemented herself in the leadoff spot and has been one of the Racrrs' most consistent threats at the plate all season with six hits, two doubles, and a single. Katy Huels has been another freshman fixture in the starting lineup, batting .240 with six hits. The freshman recorded her first career home run at the Skyhawk Invitational in a win over Western Michigan
