Murray State fell to UAB in the first of two Saturday games.

The Blazers started out hot in the opening inning with a Hope Tucker RBI double. Lindsey Smith followed that up with a two-run homer to give the Green & Gold an early 3-0 lead. The Racers responded quickly, with leadoff hitter Kenley Minor sending a triple into right field. Erin Lackey sent her home with a bunt to take an RBI and make the score 3-1.

Neither team was able to convert in the second inning, however, the Blazers added one more in the third via a Lindsey Smith RBI double that scored Bella Wiggins.

UAB added another four runs in the fourth, opening it up with an unearned run by Kaily Collett caused by a throwing error. Bella Wiggins followed that up with a two-RBI single. After stealing second and third, Wiggins scored on another error to make it 8-1.

The Blazers added one more in the fifth and the Racers were unable to plate a run in the final inning.

Kenley Minor and Katy Huels were the only Racers to record hits with Erin Lackey being credited with an RBI.

Bre Haislip was saddled with the loss after pitching 2.1 innings and allowing four earned runs. Alyson Smith pitched two innings in relief and allowed three earned runs and Karlye Graber pitched 0.2.
