The transfer from Washburn joins new Murray State Coach Ryan Miller as a junior
Murray State head men's basketball head coach Ryan Miller announced the signing of 6-5 guard Brayden Shorter who joins the Racers from Washburn as a junior for the 2025-26 season.
Â
Out of Springfield, Missouri, Shorter set a Washburn record with 119 3-point baskets, which also led the nation at the NCAA D-II level. ÂÂÂ
Â
"Brayden is a multi-talented player and his shooting ability is among the best at any level of college basketball and that sets him apart," said Coach Ryan Miller. "We're looking forward to getting him into our program and set him on a path to even higher achievements as a Murray State Racer."
Â
Last season, Shorter was a Missouri Intercollegiate Athletics Association Second Team selection after he scored 15.5 points per game and led his team with 527 points and added 32 steals. In back-to-back games against Fort Hayes State and St. Edward's, Shorter scored 51 combined points and hit 11-of-23 from the 3-point line. His 26 points in the Fort Hayes game was his career-high high and Shorter scored his first career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds against Northwest Missouri.
Â
In 63 career games, Shorter has 755 points and has made 162 threes with a percentage of .367.
Â
Coming out of Springfield's Kickapoo High School, Shorter was a two-time Missouri 6A All-State selection and was a finalist for Mr. Show Me Basketball as a senior in 2022-23.
