11 Racers Earn All-MVC Baseball Honors – Skirka Named COY

The Racers came away with a big haul of postseason honors after they won a share of the MVC title
After taking a share of the Missouri Valley Conference Baseball regular season title over the weekend, the Murray State Racers were rewarded with a program record 11 individuals who were honored as part of the 2025 All-MVC awards for the 2025 season.
Head Coach Dan Skirka was named to the Dan Callahan MVC Coach of the Year Award and shortstop Connor Cunningham was Co-Freshman of the Year.
The Racers landed four players on the All-MVC First Team including Will Vierling (C), Jonathan Hogart (OF), Nic Schutte (RHP) and Isaac Silva (RHP). All-MVC Second Team selections included Luke Mistone (1B), Dom Decker (2B), Carson Garner (3B) and Dylan Zentko (LHP) and Honorable Mention honors went to Dustin Mercer (OF).
The Racers saw Mistone, Hogart and Silva earn honors as members of the MVC All-Defensive Team.

2025 All-MVC Baseball Awards Notes
- Dan Skirka becomes the third coach from Murray State Baseball to win a Coach of the Year Award and the first since Rob McDonald who was the 2009 OVC COY.
- MSU Hall of Famer Johnny Reagan was named OVC Coach of the Year in 1991, the last of his seven such honors.
- Voting for the COY award showed Skirka received 18 first place and five second place votes.
- Will Vierling is the first MSU catcher to get All-Conference honors since Tyler Lawrence who was All-OVC in 2015 and 2016.
- 2025 marks the fourth season in the last five for the Racers to produce an All-Conference third baseman, after Bryson Bloomer won it in the OVC in 2021 and 2022 and Carson Garner has been honored the last two seasons in the MVC.
- Luke Mistone joins Brennan McCullough who was named the All-MVC First Team first baseman in 2023.
- Dom Decker is MSU's first All-League pick at second base since Jordan Cozart in 2021.
- Jonathan Hogart was also a candidate for MVC Joe Carter Player of the Year.
- Connor Cunningham becomes MSU's first Freshman of the Year since 2018 when Grant Wood was named to the same award playing second base in 2018 in the OVC.
- The All-MVC honors for Isaac Silva, Nic Schutte and Dylan Zentko marks back-to-back seasons for three MSU pitchers to be honored after Cade Vernon, Nathan Holler and Jacob Pennington were selected in 2024.
- Dylan Zentko is the first MSU lefty to get an All-League honor since 2022 when Hayden Winja was named All-OVC.
- Nic Schutte was third in the voting for MVC Pitcher of the Year.
- Dustin Mercer Mercer was an All-MVC pick for a third time for the Racers.
