Racers Drop Road Match to Lipscomb

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Racers dropped their first road matchup of the season, falling 2-1 to ASUN preseason favorite Lipscomb.
After a slow first half, Murray State regrouped and responded in the second. "Tale of two halves. I thought we showed them a little too much respect; we looked a little standoffish," head coach Matt Lodge said on the Racers' performance.
Murray State struggled to create offensive opportunities throughout the first half, taking only one shot to the Bisons' 12.
Despite the constant pressure on the Racers' defense, goalkeeper Griselda Revolorio displayed fantastic goalkeeping, making a highlight-reel save in the first half. "Gigi was great," Lodge said. "She was good with her feet, she was clean with her hands."
After some adjustments at halftime, MSU turned the table on the offensive pressure, generating four corner kicks and nine shots, four of those on goal. In the 90th minute, senior Tori Schrimpf netted her first career goal to eliminate the shutout.
"Overall, I'm happy with the second-half performance," Lodge said, "but I never like losing."
The Racers look to curtail their two-match losing streak this Sunday against Tennessee Tech back at Cutchin Field.
