Game Notes
- Captains for the Racers were Jim Ogle (QB, Jacksonville, Ala.), Cannon McCulley (LB, West Blocton, Ala.) and Marion Ponds (CB, Wichita, Kan.)
- Murray State won the coin toss and deferred possession to the start of the second half.
- The Racers have won the coin toss in all four games this season.
- MSU's punter, Tom O'Hara, booted a season-long 62yd punt in the first quarter.
- His punt matches the longest in the MVFC this season, with the 63 yarder Brendon Kilpatrick had for Youngstown State.
- O'Hara's previous longest punt was 69 yards at home against South Dakota (10-05-2024).
- The Racers' defense got off to a great start in stopping JSU in their first three drives of the game.
- It marked the first time the MSU defense has accomplished this feat since a game at Tennessee State (10-23-21).
- MSU safety Dylan Rowsey racked up 12 tackles today and now has 57 for the season.
- Rowsey entered the day second in the MVFC in tackles.
- Conlee Crossno scored on a fumble recovery in the third quarter to mark just the third instance for the Racers since 2018.
- In 2018, MSU's Jason Johnson did it against UT Martin (09-29-18) and Tyson Meiguez did it last season against Mississippi Valley (09-14-24).
- The Racers certainly had a tough day on offense, as it was their lowest output of the season.
- MSU had 233 net total yards with 92 yards on the ground and 141 through the air.
- The Racers had 260 yards at East Tennessee State, 390 vs Southeastern Louisiana and 282 last week at Georgia State.
- Jacksonville native Jim Ogle played at Jacksonville High School while his dad, Jim, Sr., was coaching at JSU, so it was a homecoming for the Ogle family.
- Coach Jody Wright and Adam Ross each played at JSU and are alumni of JSU, as is Danny Stiff and Nick Williams coached at JSU.
