Racers Fall in MVC Opener Despite Taking First Set

MSU Returns for Home Opener Tomorrow
The Murray State Racers lost to the Belmont Bruins 3-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for both teams Thursday night in Nashville, Tenn.
The first set saw the Racers(2-8, 0-1 MVC) pick up a 25-19 win after putting up 16 kills while hitting .310. Â
The Bruins (10-2, 1-0 MVC) took control in the second, winning 25-14, and kept it going in the third with a 25-18 win. They held the Racers off in the fourth, winning 25-16 to clinch the match win.   Â
Federica Nuccio led the Racers in kills with 15 and added 13 digs for a double-double. Mija Pristovnik added a double-double of her own with 13 kills and 15 digs, while Katie Titus came up just short of one with a team-high 23 assists and nine digs. Paige Brock added 18 assists, and Halle Forester led the team with 16 digs. Â
The Bruins were led by Emily Warmenhoven with 14 kills, Lily Lutz with 18 digs, and Jordan Czajkowski with 23 assists. Alivia Keegan added 22 assists. Â
The Racers now look forward to their home opener as they will host the Southern Illinois Salukis on Friday, September 26 at 6 pm. CT.Â
