Racers Host Salukis for 2025 Home Opener

Following a Thursday night match at Belmont, the Murray State Racers host the Southern Illinois Salukis for a Friday night home opener.Â
The Racers (2-8, 0-1 MVC) enter conference play having lost six straight, including a 3-1 loss at Belmont on Thursday night. Meanwhile, the Salukis (5-7) enter Missouri Valley Conference play after a 3-1 win over North Dakota State that snapped a four-game skid.Â
The Racers came out on top in the lone match between the two squads in 2024, coming away with the win in a five-set thriller in Carbondale, Ill.Â
The Racers are led offensively by a pair of seniors in Ella Vogel with 114 kills and Federica Nuccio with 91. Vogel became the 16th member of the Raver Volleyball 1000 kill club during the Racers' opening weekend tournament in Clarksville, Tenn. A pair of setters have put up numbers for the Racers, with Katie Titus featuring 195 assists on the year and Paige Brock having 135. Morgan McClure leads the Racers with 22.0 total blocks, and Halle Forester leads the team with 98 digs. Â
The Salukis are led by Annabelle Sulish with 130 kills and Emma Lade with 323 assists. They also feature a pair of dynamic blockers, as Larissa Seger has 45 on the year and Eva Krakowski has 36. Jillian Shaneyfelt has 195 digs to lead the team.
Following the home opener, the Racers will hit the road for a pair of matches in the state of Iowa. They face the Drake Bulldogs on Friday, October 3, at 6 p.m. CT in Des Moines, Iowa, and the UNI Panthers on Saturday, October 4, at 1 p.m. CT in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Â
