Clarksville, Tenn – Murray State dominated every statistical category but could not find the finishing touch, settling for a scoreless draw with Austin Peay on Sunday.
The Racers (4-3-1) generated constant opportunities throughout the match, recording season highs in shots (29) and shots on goal (11). Sydney Etter, Addison Howell and Mary Hardy each recorded multiple shots on goal.
"It's the nature of the beast," head coach Matt Lodge said. "Soccer is a sport where you can dominate every aspect and, unfortunately, come away with a tie."
In her second start of the season, Isa De Santos Gomez made two saves on the way to her first career shutout. De Santos Gomez and the Racers' defense led the way to their third shutout of the season, holding Austin Peay (0-5-2) to just seven shots.
"It's not a loss," Lodge said. "It's a clean sheet, and we're generating the chances now going into SEMO on Thursday and conference play beyond. We have to finish those chances we generate."
The Racers return to Cutchin Field on Thursday to host Southeast Missouri in their final match of nonconference play at 3 p.m. CST.
