Murray State Dominates Southeast Missouri in 4-0 Shutout

Murray, Ky. – The Racers struck early and often vs. Southeast Missouri with an assertive 4-0 victory to finish their 2025 non-conference slate.
Within two minutes of kickoff, Katie Donoghue scored unassisted to give Murray State (5-3-1) the early lead with her second goal of the season. Just before halftime, Ava Roberson doubled the advantage with her first career goal, assisted by Reagan Tate.
The Racers went into halftime with a season-high two goals in the first half and limited Southeast Missouri (0-7-0) to a single shot, their best defensive half of the year.
Murray State carried its momentum into the second half as Addison Howell scored her second goal of the season in the 55th minute off a feed from Tori Schrimpf. Just two minutes later, Sydney Etter added the fourth on an assist from Breece Bass.
Bass finished with a dominant offensive performance despite not scoring, recording eight shots, the most by a Racer since Miyah Watford on Oct. 20, 2019.
The Racers outshot the Redhawks 29-6 and put a season-high 15 shots on goal. MSU has now recorded at least 20 shots in four straight matches, the first time that's been accomplished since Sept. 22–Oct. 24, 2019.
"We've got so many different types of forwards," head coach Matt Lodge said. "I'm kind of disappointed we haven't scored more goals, but we're creating the chances."
Goalkeeper Isa De Santos Gomez tallied three saves to earn her second consecutive shutout of the 2025 campaign. It also marked the Racers' fourth shutout of the season.
"I want to punish teams," Lodge said. "I think that's how you create the mentality of winning championships, to put teams away."
Murray State looks to carry its momentum into next week when it travels to Normal, Ill., to face Illinois State.
