Currie-Jelks Picks Up Newcomer of the Week Honors

Sharnecce Currie-Jelks has once again been named MVC Newcomer of the Week
Murray State forward Sharnecce Currie-Jelks has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week after leading the Racers to a pair of home victories over Northern Iowa and Drake.
Currie-Jelks, averaged 15 points and 14.5 rebounds across the two-game stretch. She capped the week with a dominant performance in a 95-67 win over Drake on Sunday, recording a massive double-double with 18 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. She was highly efficient in the contest, shooting 6-of-10 from the field and converting 6-of-9 free throw attempts while adding two assists and a block.
Earlier in the week, Currie-Jelks played a pivotal role in the Racers' 75-71 comeback victory against Northern Iowa on Friday. She finished that contest with 12Â points and 12 rebounds, helping Murray State overcome a 17-point halftime deficit.
With these wins, Murray State improves to 14-2 overall and remains undefeated in MVC play at 5-0.
