Aggressive base running and opportunistic hits lead the Racers to a win over Michigan State.

Adison Hicks walked it off in the seventh inning to push Murray State (7-8) to a 6-5 win over the Michigan State Spartans (8-7).

The game started as a pitchers duel, with Bre Haislip carrying a no-hitter through the first five innings. The Racers got on the board first, with Katy Huels reaching home on an error in the opening inning. They wouldn't score again until the fourth inning when Ava Ozment sent Bailey Broemmer home with a sacrifice fly.

The Racers blew the game wide open in the fifth, continuing to put on a show on the basepaths. Adison Hicks was the first to score in the inning on a wild pitch before Katy Huels stole home, and Bailey Broemmer capped off the inning by driving in Allie Waldron with an RBI single that put Murray State ahead 5-0.

Michigan State responded with big innings in the sixth and seventh. They ended the no-hitter in the sixth and went on to score three runs with two RBI doubles and an RBI triple. The Spartans tied the game in the seventh as Lyndsey Hooker homered and Kendall Smiley recorded her second RBI of the game.

In the bottom of the seventh, Adison Hicks stepped up to the plate and, after taking two pitches, hit a towering home run to left center to win the game for the Racers.

After carrying a no-hitter into the sixth inning, Bre Haislip was relieved after allowing three earned runs and striking out four. Karlye Graber pitched an inning in relief and allowed two earned runs before Raylee Roby (2-1) got the win after allowing one hit across two-thirds of an inning.

Adison Hicks went 2-for-3 on the day with a double and the game-winning homer. Katy Huels went 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored, and Kenley Minor went 1-for-3 with a double. Bailey Broemmer had one hit and an RBI, while Ava Ozment added an RBI on a sacrifice fly. Huels and Allie Waldron added two stolen bases each.

The Racers return to action at the John Cropp Classic with a pair of games on Saturday against Michigan State at 9 a.m. and against Dayton at 11:30 a.m. CT.
