Racers Split Saturday Games, Shut Out Flyers

Murray State to Wrap up John Cropp Classic on Sunday
The Murray State Racers (7-9) split a pair of Saturday games at the John Cropp Classic in Murray, Kentucky.
Game 1: Michigan State 7, Murray State 4
The first game of the day featured plenty of fireworks early as both teams got on the board in the opening inning.
The Racers opened the inning with Katy Huels scoring on an error before Kenley Minor hit a two-RBI single to open up a 3-0 lead in the first inning. The Spartans responded with three runs of their own, including a two-run homer from Sophia Grillo to tie the game.
Grillo hit her second two-run homer of the day in the third, and they added one more in the fourth to take a 6-3 lead.
Bailey Broemmer added a run for Murray State in the fifth with an RBI single through the left side that scored Katy Huels. However, the Spartans added one more in the fifth to make the final score 7-4.
Kenley Minor went 2-for-4 in the game with two RBI. Bailey Broemmer went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a stolen base, and Katy Huels went 1-for-3 with a pair of stolen bases. Allie Waldron and Parker Holcombe added hits as well.
Hailey Brereton started in the circle and allowed three earned runs, walked one, and struck out one. Karlye Graber (2-2) got the loss after allowing two earned runs in 2 2/3 innings of work. Emily Siurek pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed one earned run, and Raylee Roby pitched 2 1/3 innings, did not allow an earned run, and struck out one.
Game 2: Murray State 5, Dayton 0
The Racers jumped in front early in their second game of the day, scoring twice in the opening inning. Katy Huels notched the first run on a play that saw Allie Waldron reach on an error, and Waldron made it 2-0 when she scored on a sacrifice fly by Ava Ozment.
Rylee Webb increased the lead in the top of the third inning with a hard-hit double to left-center that scored Courtney Sandy and Kenley Minor and increased the lead to 4-0.
Bailey Broemmer capped off the scoring with an RBI single in the fifth that scored Kynadee Warner and made the final score 5-0.
Bre Haislip (2-2) pitched a complete-game shutout, going the distance with six strikeouts and allowing just three hits and two walks.
Rylee Webb recorded two RBI and a double in her only at-bat of the day. Bailey Broemmer went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Katy Huels went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a pair of walks. Ava Ozment went 1-for-2 with an RBI while Kynadee Warner, Allie Waldron, and Adison Hicks each recorded hits.

The Racers will wrap up play at the John Cropp Classic on Sunday with a second game against Dayton at noon CT and a game against the host Kentucky Wildcats at 2 p.m. CT.
