Murray State falls to Dayton and Kentucky.

The Murray State Racers fell in a pair of Sunday games on the final day of the John Cropp Classic in Lexington, Kentucky.

Game 1: Dayton 7, Murray State 2
The first game of the afternoon started quietly for both the Racers and the Flyers, as neither team was able to notch a run through the opening two innings. The Flyers got on the board first, putting up a pair of runs in the third inning before adding more in both the fifth and seventh to take a 7-0 lead.

The Racers looked to mount a comeback in the seventh as Adison Hicks scored on a play that saw Layne Latimer reach on an error. They added another run on another error, with Kynadee Warner scoring this time; however, the Racers were unable to score again.

Warner finished the day 3-for-3 at the plate with a walk and a run scored. Katy Huels and Kenley Minor each had hits as well.

Bre Haislip (3-2) got the start in the circle and took the loss after allowing four earned runs and striking out four in five innings of work. Raylee Roby and Emily Siurek each pitched an inning in relief.

Game 2: Kentucky 8, Murray State 0
Kentucky jumped in front early in the second game of the day for the Racers, scoring one in the opening inning on a solo home run. They added six more in the second inning to take a commanding 7-0 lead.

After scoreless innings in the third, fourth, and fifth, the Wildcats homered again to end the game with a score of 8-0.

Karlye Graber (2-3) was the starter and got the loss after giving up three earned runs in 1 1/3 innings. Hailey Brereton allowed four earned runs before Raylee Roby pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed just one earned run.

The Racers open Missouri Valley Conference play next weekend at home against the UNI Panthers. They will open things up with a doubleheader on Friday, March 6, starting at 1 p.m. and wrap things up on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT.
