3/5/2026 9:14:00 AM | Men's Basketball
Murray State's Brayden Shorter has been honored as a member of the 2025-26 Missouri Valley Conference All-Scholar Team for men's basketball, as announced from the league office in St. Louis.
Â
Out of Springfield, Missouri, Shorter joined the Racers for his junior season and holds a 3.50 GPA as he pursues his undergrad Marketing degree from Murray State University.
Â
With six games this season of double-figure scoring, Shorter had his season-high scoring game of 17 points in MSU's win at home against Valparaiso (Jan. 10). His five made 3-point baskets against the Beacons was also a season-high in the same game. Shorter has appeared in all 31 games this season and is scoring 5.8 points per game and averages 14.5 minutes per game.
Â
Shorter and the Racers take on UIC Friday at 2:30 p.m. at State Farm Arch Madness at Enterprise Center in St. Louis.
Â
The criteria for the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team voting parallels the CSC (College Sports Communicators) standards for Academic All-America nominations. To be nominated, a student-athlete must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA, both as an undergraduate and graduate student, where applicable. If a GPA has not been established as a transfer student, the cumulative GPA from the nominees' previous institution must be used. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing. Redshirt freshmen are not eligible. Eligible nominees must compete in at least 75 percent of the regular season OR must start in at least 50 percent of the institution's games.
