CHICAGO, Ill. – Murray State's conference slide reached five games Sunday with a 10-5 loss to UIC, as the Flames swept the three-game weekend series.

This weekend was the first time the Racers have been swept in a conference series since March 28 to 30, 2024, against Belmont.

Murray State (21-15, 7-5 MVC) started the series finale strong, with Kainen Jorge hitting two home runs in his first two at-bats, boasting a streak of three consecutive at-bats with a home run, dating back to his ninth-inning homer in Saturday's contest.

Jorge's two-homer day was the first multi-homer game of the season for Murray State and the first of his career. Jorge finished the day 2-for-2 with three RBIs and three walks.

On the mound, Drew Deremer began the game with three hitless innings, striking out two, but surrendered a two-run shot in the fourth inning.

Ben Rosin was credited with the loss, his first of the year, after allowing three runs across 2.2 innings pitched.

UIC (12-20-1, 7-5 MVC) tied the game with a four-run fourth inning, and the Racers went into the eighth inning trailing by one.

The Flames all but secured the win in the eighth inning, putting across five runs and taking a six-run lead into the ninth.

Luke Mistone hit his second homer of the year in the top of the ninth inning, reducing the lead to five, but the Racers were unable to overcome the deficit.

The Racers return home to take on Southeast Missouri State on Tuesday for a rematch of their March 31 midweek where the Redhawks downed Murray State 8-1.
