Center brings in Missouri Valley Conference experience after one season at Valpo
Murray State men's basketball has announced the signing of Shon Tupuola, a 6-foot-10 center from Brownsburg, Indiana, for the 2026-27 season.
Tupuola joins the Racers after playing the 2025-26 season at Valparaiso, where he started in all 33 games during his junior season and led the Beacons with a 58 percent field goal percentage.
"We competed against Shon two times last season, and his versatility and high motor will be a major asset for us in a league as physically demanding as the Valley," head coach Ryan Miller said. "Shon is a high-level defender that has the ability to protect the rim while guarding multiple positions and can catch lobs and finish in the paint on offense. We are thrilled to welcome him to the Racer Family."
As a junior, he averaged 6.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game and blocked 42 shots, while averaging 6.0 points and 5.2 rebounds per game and producing a 60.5 field goal percentage (49-of-81) in conference action. He finished the year ranked fourth in the MVC in offensive rebounds per game (2.33) and fifth in the league in blocked shots per contest (1.27).
Prior to arriving at Valpo, he spent two seasons at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, where he was a key contributor on a team that won conference regular-season and tournament titles before going on to beating nationally-ranked opponents in each of the first two rounds of the NAIA National Championship.
As a sophomore, he averaged 14.5 points per game and 12.2 rebounds per game.
