The Murray State Racers (19-20, 10-8 MVC) will wrap up their 2026 home schedule with a doubleheader against the Southern Illinois (SIU) Salukis (28-14, 17-5 MVC) on Tuesday afternoon.
Following a sweep of Northern Iowa, SIU is second in the Missouri Valley Conference standings, while the Racers currently sit in fifth after splitting a doubleheader against Indiana State on Friday. The first game of the afternoon was a pitchers' duel, with both starters going the distance and the Racers suffering a close 2-1 loss. In the following game, the Racers benefited from another dominant pitching performance, this time by Raylee Roby, and clutch hits from several players to power them to a 5-1 win.
Katy Huels went 4-for-6 at the plate, and Allie Waldron went 3-for-7 on the weekend and now leads the Racers with a .342 batting average. Kenley Minor leads the team with six home runs and 27 RBI while batting .293. Kynadee Warner is second on the team with a .331 batting average and leads the team with 43 hits.
The Murray State pitching staff is third in the MVC with a 3.76 combined ERA. Senior Bre Haislip (9-7) features a team-low 2.75 ERA and leads the team with 74 strikeouts and 114 2/3 innings pitched. Karlye Graber (5-5) features a 3.93 ERA and 47 strikeouts across 73 innings pitched, second most on the team. After another big weekend, Raylee Roby (4-2) has a 3.82 ERA across 17 appearances and 36 2/3 innings pitched.
The Racers have posted a 6-3 record in the month of April, including series wins over UIC and Bradley. Following their home series against SIU, the Racers will finish their season on the road. They will travel first to Illinois State, before playing a midweek matchup at SEMO, and concluding with the regular-season finale at Drake.
