CARBONDALE, Ill. – Murray State baseball fell in walk-off fashion to Southern Illinois, 7-6, after surrendering three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The Racers (25-18, 11-6 MVC) broke the deadlock in the top of the third inning, putting two runs across from a Luke Mistone RBI fielder's choice and scoring another on an RBI groundout off the bat of Kainen Jorge.

The Salukis (17-24, 8-6 MVC) got on the board in the bottom of the third inning and plated two more in the fifth.

Jake Slade tied the game with an RBI single to left, setting up Mistone for another RBI single to reclaim the lead. Jorge added another run to the Racers' total with a grounder into a double play, scoring Connor Chisolm.

Colby Ott added the Racers' final run of the day with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning. Ott finished the day 3-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored, marking his first three-hit performance of the season and the fifth of his career.

Southern Illinois scored four unanswered runs to close out the game, walking off the Racers with an error off the glove of Ott.

Daylan Pena and Parker Airhart both added a multi-hit performance with two hits apiece. Airhart recorded his first multi-hit game since Feb. 24 against UT Martin.

Ben Rosin had another strong performance on the mound, with 3.1 innings of work allowing one run, zero earned runs, and striking out four batters.

Dylan Zentko was handed the loss, his third of the year, after 0.1 innings pitched with three runs allowed.

Murray State and SIU will face off tomorrow for the series with first pitch slated for 3 p.m. on ESPNU.
