Racers and Flames Split Friday Doubleheader

Rubber Match set for Saturday
The Murray State Racers (14-18, 6-6 MVC) split a pair of games against the UIC Flames (17-18-1, 6-8 MVC) on Friday at Flames Field in Chicago, Illinois.
Game 1: Murray State 16, UIC 0
The Racers jumped in front early in the first game of the afternoon and never looked back, scoring five runs in the opening inning.
Parker Holcombe drove in two with a double before Kenley Minor blasted a three-RBI home run to center field, her third of the season. Holcombe and Minor cashed in again in the second with both adding an RBI to increase the lead to 7-0. The infield duo kept it rolling in the fourth as Holcombe notched another RBI with a double to right field before they traded places on another double by Minor.
Kynadee Warner got the scoring going in the fifth with an RBI single as the Racers poured it on with seven total runs in the final inning. Adison Hicks picked up an RBI and scored Katy Huels before Layne Latimer and Warner scored on an error, and Hicks advanced all the way to third. Allie Waldron hit an RBI single to left before Kenley Minor added her sixth RBI by scoring Waldron on a single. Parker Holcombe scored the final run for the Racers, making it 16-0 on a sacrifice fly from Lily Wolf.
Holcombe and Minor combined for 10 RBI on the day, with Holcombe going 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI. Minor was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a home run, a double, and six RBI. Adison Hicks went 3-for-4 in the game with an RBI and three runs scored, while Kynadee Warner went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Allie Waldron had one hit and one RBI, and Bailey Broemmer had one hit.
Bre Haislip (6-5) went the distance in the circle to get the win, allowing just two hits and striking out five batters in five innings.
Game 2: UIC 6, Murray State 4
It was the Flames who jumped in front early in the second game, scoring a pair of runs in the first inning.
Murray State responded in the top of the second as Bailey Broemmer and Katy Huels each recorded an RBI. However, UIC scored another pair of runs in the bottom of the second as a Sam Tourtillott triple made it 4-2 in favor of the Flames.
After a Cameran Rios single made it 5-2, the Racers cut the deficit to just one in the fourth as Allie Waldron singled, scoring Kynadee Warner and Kai Cornelius. However, the Racers could not add another run, as the Flames tacked on one more in the sixth to make the final score 6-4.
Bailey Broemmer went 2-for-2 at the plate with a walk and an RBI, while Adison Hicks added a pair of runs as well. Allie Waldron went 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI, while Katy Huels added one more RBI. Kynadee Warner, Kenley Minor, and Ailey Schyck each had one hit.
Karlye Graber (5-5) was the starter and took the loss in the circle after two innings of work where she allowed four hits and three earned runs while striking out three. Emily Siurek pitched 3 1/3 innings in relief, allowing eight hits and two earned runs before Bre Haislip pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed one hit.
