Arriving at Murray State in 2013, Scottie Ingram became the kills leader in Racer Volleyball history. The three-year run (2014-16) she and her teammates won three-straight OVC regular season titles and a pair of OVC Tournament Championships, while Ingram was becoming one of only seven Racers across all sports, to become a three-time OVC Player of the Year. On episode 91 of the Runnin' with the Racers Podcast, Ingram talks of how her competitiveness drove her to greatness, but not for herself, for her team.

In Murray State Football lore, one of the biggest plays in the 100-year plus history of the program icame from kicker by Shane Andrus. In 2002, the Racers hosted the No. 2 Eastern Illinois Panthers, led by quarterback Tony Romo at Roy Stewart Stadium, and by the end of the day, Andrus had his moment. He booted a 52-yard field goal on the final play to give the Racers a share of the Ohio Valley Conference title. Among those who remember that day are the Voice of the Racers Neal Bradley and EIU's Mike Bradd, MSU Head Coach Joe Pannunzio and Andrus.
