The 2022-23 school year is the fifth for Tanner Gordon as the Racers' pitching coach
In the spring of 2022, Tanner’s pitching staff was third in the OVC in team pitching with the third-best ERA at 5.71.
MSU was third in the OVC in 2021 with a 5.34 ERA and they were second (3.53) in the shortened season of 2020 (17 games).
The Racers were second in the OVC with the fewest walks with 209 (3.8 per nine innings).
MSU lefty was the ace of the staff with the third ERA in the OVC at 3.67 and 86 strikeouts which was also second in the OVC.
The Racers also led the OVC in the fewest home runs given at 0.94 per game.
Gordon has developed All-League pitchers including Hayden Winja in 2022, San Gardner and Jack Wenninger (2021) and Shane Burns (2019).

Before MSU

Spent three years at Trevecca Nazarene University as an assistant coach.
Won two Great Midwest Athletic Conference Regular Season Titles.
Coached three first-team All-Conference pitchers, including the 2016 GMAC Reliever of the year, as well as five second-team All-conference pitchers and two All-Conference freshman pitchers.
Served as a volunteer assistant coach at Mercer University in 2015, working with outfielders.
Coached Kyle Lewis, the 2015 Southern Conference Player of the Year and 11th overall pick by the Seattle Mariners in the 2016 MLB Draft.
Coached one year at Middle Georgia State College and two years at Andrew College.
