- Marcus Brown will be in his third season with the Racers in the 2023-24 season.
- Added the title of Director of Player Development in the summer of 2023.
- Returned to Murray State in the summer of 2021 as the Assistant to the Head Coach.
- In his first season with the Racers as an assistant, the MSU Hall of Famer was a big part of an outstanding 2021-22 season.
- The Racers went 31-3 and won the program's fifth game in the NCAA Tournament with a 92-87 victory over San Francisco in Indianapolis.
- Murray State became the fifth team in Ohio Valley Conference history to win the regular season championship undefeated in going 18-0.
- Coach Brown was instrumental in the development of All-OVC selection Justice Hill, who became one of the most improved players in the nation.
MSU Playing Career
- Played for Coach Scott Edgar and Mark Gottfried from 1992-96.
- Two-time OVC Player of the Year and three-time All-OVC selection
- Brown is third all-time on the career points scored list at MSU with 2,236 and holds the MSU single-season scoring average with 26.4 points per game during the 1995-96 season.
- Inducted into the MSU Hall of Fame in February 2010.
- Is the career steals leader at Murray State with 232, with 56 more than second place Vincent Rainey, a teammate that was inducted into the MSU HOF in 2021. Brown's record has stood strong since 1996.
- In 2010, became the ninth player to have his jersey retired when his no. 5 was lifted to the rafters at the CFSB Center.
Professional Career
- Drafted by the Portland Trailblazers in 1996, but made his name with a stellar career in Europe.
- He played for 14 seasons for teams in France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Lithuanian and Russia.
- At his retirement, Brown was the all-time American scorer in the 24-team Euroleague since the league was started in 2000 with 2,715 points.
- After his retirement from professional basketball, Brown coached at his alma mater, West Memphis High School, where he assisted and then took over for legendary coach Larry Bray, whom Brown played for.
Personal
- Marcus and his wife, Raven, has four children, Kianni, Carter, Brooklynn and Avery.
- Combining his career at the prep level in West Memphis, Murray State and then in the professional ranks, Brown was inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.
