Nick Matson joins the Murray State program after spending the 2009-10 season at Stanford University as a coaching intern for the men’s basketball team.
As graduate assistant manager, Matson assists the Racer program with player development, film exchange and practice coordination, and other administrative tasks.
He is a 2009 Graduate of the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) with a degree in psychology and is pursuing a Master’s Degree at Murray State in organizational communication.
Matson played for VMI from 2006-08, and then served as undergraduate assistant coach during the 2008-09 season.
In that season, Matson was part of the program that saw VMI Keydets finish a Big South Conference best 24-8 and advance to the title game of the league tournament. VMI led the nation in scoring in 2008-09 and had a victory over Kentucky at Rupp Arena.
