At Murray State

In 2026, joined Learfield Racers Sports Properties as Director of Broadcasting as the "Voice of the Racers".
Duties include organizing and performing the radio broadcasts of MSU Football, men's basketball and baseball and storytelling across radio and digital platforms, including Racers Podcast Central.
Finished a 25-year career with Murray State Athletics in spring 2026.
Came back to his alma mater in 2001 to work in the athletics department after an early career in radio and television.
At Murray State, served primarily with men's basketball communications and worked with coaches Mick Cronin, Billy Kennedy, Steve Prohm, Matt McMahon and Ryan Miller.
Winder was part of the Murray State men’s basketball program and its seven trips to the NCAA Tournament as communications contact.
Handled the media organization for All-America and NBA Draft selections Isaiah Canaan, Cameron Payne and Ja Morant.
Was part of the transition team as Murray State departed the Ohio Valley Conference and joined the Missouri Valley Conference in 2022.
Served in the early era of Murray State AD Nico Yantko during unprecedented growth as members of the MVC.
In 2025, was communications contact for the Murray State Baseball team that was a co-MVC regular season champion, MVC Tournament Champion, NCAA Oxford Regional. Champion, Durham Super Regional Champion and qualifier for the College World Series.
Worked for five directors of athletics at MSU including: E.W. Dennison, Allen Ward, Velvet Milkman (interim), Kevin Saal and Nico Yantko.
Has led the Murray State Hall of Fame committee since 2019 where the group has enshrined 55 new members as of 2025.
Serves as a member of the MVC Hall of Fame committee.
Manages MSU's television broadcast department productions on ESPN+
Upon returning to Murray State in 2001, Winder spent the first part of his tenure in fundraising and marketing.
In 2005, became assistant athletics director for media relations and was promoted to associate AD in 2017.

Before MSU

Graduated from Murray State with a degree in Radio-Television in 1987.
Served as the radio voice of Southeast Missouri State from 1988-91.
Worked at WPSD as sports anchor/reporter from 1991-01.
Hosted the Racer Report television show from 1993 to 2015, while at WPSD and MSU Athletics.
Played baseball at Murray State from 1983-87 for legendary coach Johnny Reagan.
Played three seasons for MSU and became an All-Ohio Valley Conference first baseman in 1987.
Holds the OVC and MSU single-game record with 12 RBIs which was set in 1986 in a game against Iowa..

Personal

Dave and his wife Janice, have two grown children. Daughter, Meagan and her husband Travis Palmer and son, Matthew and his wife Leah.
Four grandchildren: boys: Woods and Crew, girls: Olivia and Elsie Mae.
Children Meagan and Matthew and their spouses are all Murray State graduates.
Faithful Labrador, Sarge, is also a Racer fan.
